Abstract:
This work deals with three themes which at first sight may not seem related: sustainability, tourism, and participation. The aim of this master thesis is to present these themes and then to highlight the relationships between them. The first part of this paper is a literature review which presents the three central themes that are gaining in value. To answer our research questions and formulated hypotheses, the second part focuses on the Swiss parks as a whole and on the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch, one of the regional nature parks recognised as a park of national importance to specify the statements. The results underline the importance of sustainability, tourism and participation for Swiss parks. Furthermore, the examples presented show that these themes are interrelated.
