Specialties of Dragos G. Zaharescu:
I work in the open, interdisciplinary arena, on processes that help me understand how biosphere interacts with Earth's other life-support systems, particularly with the geosphere, and how this interaction spreads from micron to mountain and global scales. This includes the initiation of element cycles, ecosystem formation and resilience and the formation and preservation of biosignatures. I have focused mostly on oligotrophic environments, with a great amount of work in or relevant to alpine environments.
