Unite For Sight's programs of ASIAN CHAPTER Bangladesh are continuing in the winter of Feb 2006, “Eye Health Education program & vitamin A Campaign Day “in Differential school” in dhaka city & out side of dhaka . The vision screening and awareness campaign included presentations about the importance of clean water, sanitation & hygiene, proper nutrition, and vitamin “A” to maintain good eye health. The volunteers also educated children about eye safety and conjunctivitis prevention. Vision screenings were conducted by a physician, who also detected Children differential eye problems including color blindness and xerophthalmia among several children, who were referred to a hospital for further diagnosis and treatment. A vision education awareness campaign was also conducted at a school for the mentally challenged.

ABOUT UNITE FOR SIGHT
Unite For Sight is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that empowers communities worldwide to improve eye health and eliminate preventable blindness. Volunteer Teams work with partner eye clinics to provide eye care and eye health education programs to medically underserved communities. Additionally, Volunteers work in ninety chapters established at universities, medical schools, corporations, high schools, and in communities throughout the world.

CHAPTER STATEMENT
Unite For Sight CHAPTER (ASIAN ) Teams implement as a primary basis eye health improving programs, eye health education programs, in BANGLADESH. Listed below are locations of CHAPTERS programs through at least winter& Summer 2006. Most programs are ongoing and will continue according to recommandation of UNITE FOR SIGHT (USA). The Unite for Sight chapter educated children and adults about the risks of eye disease and the different methods of prevention. Our chapter is commited to solving preventable eye health problems and building the capacity of individuals, communities and institutions to become more awareness in eye care & eye health education program. Our works in all the probable solving areas of eye problems, with a focus on improving eye health,and economic opportunities for the least advantaged in asia and all over the world .

This 2nd monthly REPORT of the CHAPTER documents some aspects of the primary activities during at the starting of 2006, of chapter starting moment including eye health education program ,announcement about UNITE FOR SIGHT and about of our chapter in ASIA ,making groups & team in school,college ,universities & communities and creating introducing with them .All the abstract and other documents produced and published by the chapter Volunteers.

A MESSAGE FROM THE
CHAPTER LEADER

The peoples in asia always facing a lot of difficulties in their daily life, they have no sufficient medical facilities to solutions of their medical problems .in order to relive their problems we have started the chapter in asia. For this we have recruited 250 volunteers including 120 successful eye health educator for our chapter activities. We are fighting against preventable blindness in ASIA,we need your help to make this possiable & easier .you can broaden your hands to help the blind people in Asia ,and make sure the eye sight for the people of our world. The UFS ASIAN CHAPTER is devoted to meeting the needs of prevention of blindness by facilitating support for them where the need is great and the resources limited.

. MISSION STATEMENT
The Unite for sight “ASIAN CHAPTER” is officially formed in 20th december 2005 to broaden support and solutions to people’s eye health problems, empowers communities worldwide to improve eye health and eliminate preventable blindness. Chapter Volunteer Teams work with partner eye clinics to provide eye care and eye health education programs in differential schools, college, university’s, medical school,medical college & medically underserved communities in asia.

The chapter also taking care in vitaminosis,malnutrition,water & sanitation ,expanding prevention of blindness programs.

Programs

Winter 2006 (February)

WINTER 2006 (February)
CHAPTER CENTRAL AREA.


ASIAN CHAPTER are implementing & recruiting volunteers for its programs in Asia, At present especially in Bangladesh at Dhaka city and out side of Dhaka . In the winter of February 2006, in this month we have 120 successful eye health educator. And it is continuing to recruiting volunteers and suggest them to complete online eye health course.



WINTER 2006 (February)
CHAPTER CENTRAL AREA.
ASIAN CHAPTER are continuing implementing & recruiting volunteers for its programs in Asia, At present we have volunteers team in 6 university,5 three medical college,three medical school,20 high school,25 primary school,& 12 community center in Bangladesh at Dhaka city and manikgonj,Gazipur ,Nababgonj in the winter of february 2006,
In addition to educating children and adults about the prevention of vitamin A deficiency and trachoma, UFS chapter action in Banglades led to a collaboration that resulted in the creation of the Total Health and Safety Awareness Campaign administered at ,some schools & community center in dhaka. This campaign contains basic health,counseling, safety, and nutrition skills through one hour lesson plans in class rooms once a week by our eye health educator and design games and drama about various local health skills suitable and necessary for healthy living in the community.The program is approved by our Chapter board member, the school managing committee, community leader,local government authority and school teacher.

DHAKA CITY DENTAL COLLEGE.
UFS Asian chapters programs in Dhaka City Dental College were launched on february 01st, 2006 by 10 Dhaka dental students. The team leader name is Resalat Salam,The main event was a one day Eye Health Education Program that focused on people to introduced with unite for sight and its asian chapter , this team is educated children and adults about the risks of eye disease and the different methods of prevention in dhaka metropolitan city.

GOVERNMENT BANGLA COLLEGE.
UFS Asian chapters programs in Government Bangla college were launched on February 04, 2006 by 08 University students. The team leader name is Iqbal Bahar,The main event was a one day Eye Health Education Program that focused on people to introduced with unite for sight and its asian chapter . this team is working in the College’s campus and its neibourhood educated children and adults about the education of eye health & disease and the different methods of prevention in the area of dhaka south.

KABI NAZRUL COLLEGE
NABABPUR,Dhaka.
UFS Asian chapters programs in Jahangir nagar university were launched on february 09, 2006 by 11 University students. The team leader name is Salma akhter,The main event was a one day Eye Health Education Program that focused on people to introduced with unite for sight and its asian chapter . this team is working in the university’s campus and its neibourhood especially located its rural areas educated children and adults about the education of eye health & disease and the different methods of prevention in the area of dhaka urban.

DHAKA
UFS Asian chapters programs in Dhaka college were launched on February 15, 2006 by 20 students. The team leader name is Sahidul islam,The main event was a one day Eye Health Education Program that focused on people to introduced with unite for sight and its asian chapter . . this team is working with our field team two medical students in each team educated children and adults about the education of eye health & disease and the different methods of prevention & treatment in the area of dhaka capital city .




SIKDER MEDICAL COLLEGE,
Dhaka.

UFS Asian chapters programs in SIR Solimullah medical college were launched on jun 17, 2006 by 05 Medical students. The team leader name is Tushar ahmed,The main event was a one day Eye Health Education Program that focused on people to introduced with unite for sight and its asian chapter . this team is also working with our field team ,two medical students in each team educated children and adults about the education of eye health & disease and the different methods of prevention in the out side area of dhaka metropolitan city of Estern.


BEGUM BADRUNNESSA COLLEGE, Dhaka.

UFS Asian chapters programs in Badrunnessa college were launched on February 20, 2006 by 15 students. The team leader name is Asma begum,The main event was a one day Eye Health Education Program that focused on people to introduced & involved with unite for sight and its asian chapter . . this team is working with our field team two medical students in each team educated children and adults about the education of eye health & disease and the different methods of prevention & treatment in the area of dhaka southern.

UFS Asian chapters programs in Agriculture training School were launched on February 19, 2006 by 25 students. The team leader name is Amzad Hossain,The main event was a one day Eye Health Education Program that focused on people to introduced with unite for sight and its asian chapter. this team is working with our field team two medical students in each team educated children and adults about the education of eye health & disease and the different methods of prevention in the area of dhaka north.




SHINGAIR DEGREE COLLEGE
Shingair, Manikgonj.

UFS Asian chapters programs in Shingair Degree College were launched on February 20, 2006 by 27 students. The team leader name is Rina Begum ,The main event was a one day Eye Health Education Program that focused on people to introduced with unite for sight and its asian chapter. . this team is working with our field team two medical students in each team educated children and adults about the education of eye health & disease and the different methods of prevention & treatment in the area of the district of Manikgonj about 10km west of dhaka city.
